Though there is always excitement when the NBA schedule is released, there was a little extra anticipation for the schedule’s release this year, mainly because of the wild free agent signings and trade frenzy that has taken place this summer. Now that the schedule has finally been made public, let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated games for the upcoming NBA season.

Tuesday, October 25 – New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers

The first game of the season will feature the NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers in a matchup against the new look Knicks, who have bolstered their roster with Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Courtney Lee. Prior to the game, LeBron and the Cavs will receive their championship rings during a special ceremony in front of the hometown fans.

Friday, November 4 – New York Knicks at Chicago Bulls

D-Rose and Joakim Noah will make an emotional return to the Windy City for the first time since joining the Knicks this offseason. Though Rose’s career has been overshadowed by injuries, for a while, he was the face of the Bulls. Time will tell if the duo receives a warm welcome from the crowd at the United Center.

Thursday, November 10 – Chicago Bulls at Miami Heat

It’ll be a strange feeling for Dwyane Wade when he takes the court at American Airlines Arena in an away uniform. After playing for the Heat since he was drafted in 2003, Dwyane Wade will make his first appearance in Miami since signing with the Chicago Bulls in July.

Christmas Day – Golden State Warriors at Cleveland Cavaliers

While the Christmas day lineup is full of great NBA matchups, this one trumps them all. Steph Curry and the rest of the GS squad will be looking for some revenge after falling to the Cavs in the Finals. Playing under the Cavaliers newly raised Championship banner should give them a little extra motivation.

Saturday, February 11 – Golden State Warriors at Oklahoma City Thunder

While Rose, Noah, and Wade have a shot at receiving warm welcomes when they return to their former home arenas, that will not be the case for Kevin Durant. After stunning fans and even his own teammates on OKC, the former career-long Thunder player will make his first appearance at Chesapeake Energy Arena since joining the Golden State Warriors.
