See them perform their new album, as well as old hits, live on their tour.
Billy Joel: BB&T Center│Sunrise, FL│December 31st
Billy Joel returns to Sunrise, Florida’s BB&T Center for New Year’s Eve to ring in 2017. What is becoming a tradition, this is the second year in a row that he is performing at the venue for New Year’s Eve. After his 2015 New Year’s Eve performance, the Miami Herald said, “Joel’s elastic voice sounds undiminished by time, almost as youthful and pliable as it did when he first released the hits.” Joel’s hits include “Piano Man,” a role he embraces as a mainly-seated pianist performer, “Only the Good Die Young,” and “She’s Always a Woman.” Below is a clip of Joel’s 2015 NYE concert in Sunrise, FL last year:
Trans-Siberian Orchestra: Quicken Loans Arena│Cleveland, OH│December 31st
Trans-Siberian Orchestra is on their “Ghosts of Christmas Eve” Tour that is ending New Year’s Eve. Therefore, Cleveland’s show is one of two that is finishing up their 2016 tour. The other is in Seattle at KeyArena. Each group is performing two shows at their respective locations at 3PM and 9PM. The “Ghosts of Christmas Eve” Tour is a continuation of their 2015 Winter Tour that was so successful; they decided to do it again. Trans-Siberian Orchestra is known for their over-the-top performances. These include pyrotechnics, light shows, and any other type of special effect you can think of. That’s just in addition to the great progressive rock music they deliver onstage.
Maroon 5, Tove Lo & R. City: Mandalay Bay – Events Center│Las Vegas, NV│December 30th
Maroon 5 is continuing their 2016 tour into 2017. December 30th marks their first of two Las Vegas shows (the second being the 31st). This is slowly becoming a tradition for the band, as they’ve played at Mandalay Bay the past few years for New Year’s Eve. The band has not released an album since 2015, but their 2016 single “Don’t Wanna Know” featuring Kendrick Lamar infiltrated radio airwaves and became a big hit. Tove Lo did release a new album this year titled Lady Wood, and it was a huge step forward for her artistry and career. Therefore, the lineup is an excellent combination of everyone’s favorite band, an innovative pop singer, and a hip-hop duo that leans towards its reggae roots.

New Orleans is a new addition to NYRE this year. There was talk of Atlantic City for a satellite performance location, but that fell through and New Orleans took over. Two big performances will be televised from Sugar Bowl’s Allstate Fan Fest in the city. Jason Derulo, a huge pop/R&B singer, and Panic! at the Disco, a longtime popular rock band, will take the stage. The addition to New Orleans brings the iconic celebration to the south, connecting the West Coast and East Coast together for a fuller NYE celebration. Just because the ball drops doesn’t mean the party is over. From Las Vegas, Lionel Richie will be performing for the start of 2017 to be featured on NYRE. He will be performing his song “All Night Long” immediately following the midnight countdown and Times Square celebration.
NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly│11:30pm ET
For a shorter NYE special, NBC and Carson Daly produce NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly right before the ball drops. This televised special is only one hour long, gaping the time right before and after the ball drops. However, this doesn’t mean the musical lineup is lacking talent. All of the names listed below are huge musicians, and most released new music in 2016. This special also broadcasts from Times Square, but it also includes pre-recorded performances from Rockefeller Center and L.A. Below is the list of performers:
