Sam Smith’s Smashing Return Includes a Single, Album & Tour

October 12, 2017 by Nate

Sam Smith

It is so fitting that Sam Smith has become one of the best soul music musicians in the world. No one pours more emotion into their music. Literally, Sam Smith gives his soul to every track.

After an incredible year in 2014 filled with smash hits, Grammy Awards and worldwide fame, Smith took a break from the spotlight. A meteoric rise like his can be incredibly draining.

However, now that he has initiated his return to the music scene, the Sam Smith fever is back.

First Single – “Too Good at Goodbyes”

First, he came back with “Too Good at Goodbyes.” This soft piano ballad has a little bit of everything. It not only showcases his powerful vocals, but his incredible range as well. He is a master at tugging on his fans’ emotions by letting them know he has gone through similar situations in his own life. The song is poignant and deep. No one utilizes a piano and a choir quite like Smith.

Second Single – “Pray”

Next came “Pray.” This was an extremely important song for Smith. Not only is his music good, but it is impactful. He relays messages through music, imploring fans and people across the world to be kinder, gentler and more accepting. With a Timbaland feature on this track, there are subtle hints of hip-hop in the background that give the song a fuller sound.

It is all about the landscape of the world we live in today. It focuses on religion, and the constant struggle of being a star, making mistakes, but still wanting to keep faith in the forefront. You can feel the pain in his voice on this song as well. If these two songs are a sign of more to come on the album, we can cancel the Grammy’s now and mail the awards to Smith.

Second Studio Album – The Thrill of It All

After two extremely well-received singles, Smith also announced his next album. Set to drop on November 3rd, this album appears to be a deeper more visceral cut than his first album. Based off the first two singles, Smith will cover a variety of emotional topics that are extremely important to people across the world.

The album is ten tracks long and has only one feature from a little known artist with a big voice. YEEBA is on a song called “No Peace”. This song should be special as her vocal prowess is breathtaking as well.

In terms of production, Smith has chosen to work with Jimmy Napes again. Napes was an integral part of Smith’s hit records on his first album. It only makes sense that the two collaborate again.

Sam Smith Tour

As for the tour in support of the album, Smith will hit every major city in North America on the 2018 The Thrill of It All tour. Starting on June 18th in Toronto and ending September 13th in Calgary, Smith makes stops everywhere in between.

Some of the arenas that will sell out in seconds include the TD Garden in Boston, the Toyota Center in Houston and the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Additionally, the complete tour schedule for The Thrill of It All tour can be found right here at TicketNetwork.com.
