Bon Jovi heads to Madison Square Garden for their second to last show of their “This House Is Not For Sale Tour.” This is also the second of two nights at MSG. John Mayer│The Search for Everything
John Mayer has taken a new approach to the release of his 2017 album. He is dropping parts of The Search for Everything in “waves,” spanning the beginning half of 2017. Wave Three, which drops today, is actually the rest of the his album, finishing the waves with an official April release. Mayer is showing his maturity through the recent years after taking time away from the public. He grew up from the boy who was known more for offhanded comments than the guy who has stellar guitar and vocal talent.
The refresh and reset seem to be working for him. The New York Times did an in-depth interview of his growth, and The Search for Everything seems to be the culmination of these lessons and period of change. Mayer is not only touring for his “The Search of Everything Tour,” but he is also touring with the Grateful Dead members for the Dead & Company summer 2017 tour, as well. Therefore, Mayer is busy throughout this year, and fans can only hope he remains levelheaded and humble, as he’s come so far from the days of being the asshole in the interview.

“The Heart Part 4” and “HUMBLE.”
After Kendrick Lamar released his single “The Heart Part 4” in March, a new album seemed close to follow. His second single “HUMBLE.” further confirmed that Kendrick Lamar was working on new music, and the guess was that April 7th would be the release date for the new album. At the end of “The Heart Part 4,” Lamar raps, “Ya’ll got ’till April 7th to get ya’ll shit together.” However, April 7th came and went, and what fans got instead was a confirmed release date: April 14th.
Even with just these two tracks, critics and fans alike relaxed worries that Lamar would fall from his King Kendrick throne. “The Heart Part 4,” though not radio friendly, attacks with venom on those who have questioned his status. “HUMBLE.” is a rare commodity for Kendrick Lamar; its piano sounds create a unique beat, and the lyrics also command respect which aren’t surprising Kendrick traits. However, it is pre-game and radio-able, which is something fans rarely see from Kendrick. To Pimp A Butterfly, though jammed full of genius, is a lot to handle in one listening session. Therefore, “HUMBLE.” complimented “The Heart Part 4” in its diverse ability to play on repeat with the replaying chorus, “Bitch, be humble,” and “Bitch sit down; be humble.”
Kendrick Lamar then released the official title, album artwork, and tracklist to DAMN. a few days prior to its April 14th release. the only two features are Rihanna and U2; a splash of Caribbean fierce and peace, love & ’80s rock for the new album. For a simple title, the artwork is anything but – showing Lamar in a twisted, dark pose with a white t-shirt contrasting his black skin and unfocused eyes. Furthermore, Kendrick Lamar does not make these decisions haphazardly, and like everything he touches, there is social intention behind the artwork and music.

Harry Styles surprised everyone with his single “Sign of the Times” that followed an ’80s rock, Bowie-like sound far from One Direction’s pop boy band style. Therefore, Styles seems to have the most hopeful solo career ahead aside from Zayn. He will be performing a new single this weekend on SNL in addition to “Sign of the Times.” The single will most likely drop today preceding his performance.
Jennifer Hudson recently released a single “Remember Me” in 2017, and the music video dropped this week. She has not released an album since 2014’s JHUD. Therefore, fans can potentially expect a new album from this underrated singer and actress.
Hudson is doing the talk show route with two stops in one day promoting her new single and potential upcoming album.
Sheryl Crow│The Late Show with Stephen Colbert│April 20th
Sheryl Crow will her new album Be Myself next week. Crow has not released new music since 2013’s Feels Like Home. This album gets back to her ’90s roots and, like the name suggests, is personal. Therefore, expect her time on Watch What Happens Live to hit at the personal depth of her new album, as she returns to the spotlight four years later.
Shania Twain and Bastille│The Late Late Show with James Corden│April 18th
Shania Twain and Bastille are on The Late Late Show with James Corden, though the two are from completely different music genres. Twain is set to release an album in 2017. Bastille is touring until May in support of their 2016 album Wild World.
Spoon just dropped their new album Hot Thoughts on March 17th. They’re on tour throughout 2017 with dates in May and from late summer to October. Therefore, The Ellen Show will most likely promote their recent album and upcoming shows.
Travis Scott│The Ellen DeGeneres Show│April 19th
Travis Scott has featured on many recent tracks including Wale’s “Fish N Grits.” He is touring through May and June in 2017, and his Ellen appearance will certainly highlight his tour. His album AstroWorld is set to drop in 2017 as well as a potential album with Migos member Quavo.
X Ambassadors are performing at multiple music festivals this summer including Sunfest and Forecastle Festival. Therefore, their tour dates are limited so far in 2017. Their last album VHS dropped in 2015, so it might be time for a new upcoming album announcement.
Crow will drop her new album next week, and her talk show appearances are in support of her new music.
