Comedy Shows Make a Huge Comeback in 2018

December 5, 2018 by Nate

Top Comedy Shows

Many people consider comedy to be a great way to pass the time, and don’t even stop to consider that humor is often directly intertwined with the fabric of our everyday reality. Comedy is part of our human existence. It changes how we feel and think, and more importantly improves our mood.

As the old saying goes, laughter is the best medicine, and honestly who isn’t interested in a little bit of dark humor every now and again? Treat yourself to a night out and enjoy an evening full of laughter with some of the most gut-busting comedians of our time.

Aziz Ansari

Aziz Ansari is not just anybody. After all, not every comedian gets a guest appearance in a Jay-Z video. Ansari actually comes from the comedy corner but has since climbed the ladder of fame, making a name for himself as an actor, best-selling author and all-around “cool guy.”

He doesn’t make music or rap, Ansari only depends on the most famous rappers in the world. If he’s not the trendy guy from Pawnee, he is the It-Boy of the American rap scene. His breakthrough came with the role as charming slacker Tom Haverford in “Parks and Recreation.” With his own series “Master of None,” has he shown his great talent. His great success is due to his sense of humor and ability to fill entire arenas as a stand-up comedian. In his stand-up shows, he likes to talk about love, food, Ja Rule and focus on racial stereotypes.

According to Ansari, “Stand-up is always a work-in-progress if you want to get better,” but he has already made a name for himself in the upper echelons of modern comedic greats. He just recently announced his North American Tour “Road to Nowhere.” Come and celebrate the kickoff of Aziz Ansari’s new tour which debuts this February in Massachusetts. Buy your tickets today at TicketNetwork!

Jeff Dunham

Jeff Dunham is among America’s best comedians. The ventriloquist has so much more to offer than just a puppet and a few stupid jokes. He has created a unique stage that only he himself fits into.

Without any lip movement Jeff is able to use different dialects, accents, howls, barks and even sings. The audience loves him, his videos on YouTube rank in the top with over a billion views and he has millions of followers on social media. He is downright shameless and politically incorrect!

Dunham has built an empire over the years. The stand-up comedian already sat on Johnny Carson’s sacred couch and launched a few incredibly blunt characters such as Achmed the Dead Terrorist, Old Walter, Peanut and Jose Jalapeño.

Arguably his most famous puppet is Achmed the Terrorist, who is most memorable for his mutterings of, “Silence, I kill you.” Jeff Dunham uses his dummies to satirize contemporary issues and make his audiences laugh – because let’s be honest, who can be upset with a doll? The funnyman and his fierce cast of characters are back on the road.

Don’t miss out the opportunity to see Jeff Dunham, the most famous ventriloquist, along with Walter, Achmed, Bubba J, Peanut and Jose live on stage. Tickets for Jeff Dunham’s Passively Aggressive Tour are available here at TicketNetwork.

Kevin Hart

Kevin Hart regularly challenges his audience’s laughing muscles. With 69 million followers on Instagram, a star on the “Walk of Fame” and ranking at the top of “The Hollywood Reporter’s Top Comedian” list, the American stand-up comedian and actor is number one among professional jokesters.

With his toothpaste smile and a biceps of steel, he has appeared in over 50 films. He made it on the Forbes’ “40 Under 40” list and is able to pack football stadiums with fans through his humor. He’s worked his way up from humble beginnings as a stand-up comedian to Hollywood actor – quite an immense achievement! Discipline is certainly a reason for his success and if you follow the comedian and actor on Facebook and Instagram, you’ll quickly get a feel for his endurance.

This man does not give up! His craziness has brought him great success. Kevin Hart, one of the most famous comedians, is back! Be ready to laugh until your stomach hurts. Don’t miss out and secure your Kevin Hart tickets today at TicketNetwork.

The Show Must Go On: Dave Chappelle is Making a Comedy Comeback

March 16, 2017 by Nate

Dave Chappelle Texas

Clayton Bigsby, The Player Haters Ball, Tyrone Biggums and The Racial Draft. True fans know these are all classic skits from one of the best comedy shows of all time. Chappelle’s Show defined a generation in the early 2000s when Dave Chappelle was on top of his game.

The art of stand-up comedy is currently in a bit of a renaissance. In the 80s and 90s, comics such as Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock and Adam Sandler would frequently make on-stage appearances and have thousands of fans falling out of their seats.

Comedy shows are back and seem to be thriving once again. Thanks to Jim Gaffigan, Joe Rogan and Kevin Hart, the genre has survived losing some of its biggest stars.

Some of that decline was credited to the disappearance of Dave Chappelle. While on top of the comedy world, he chose to work on himself rather than comedy. He turned down a massive contract from Comedy Central and instead ventured to South Africa. Escaping the industry that swallowed him up and threatened his creativity, Chappelle was in need of soul searching.

Slowly but surely Chappelle has come back in to the spotlight. Much more reserved than when in his prime, but he might be twice as funny. His new perspective on life adds more to his comedy routine. Also, with his career on a clear path once again he seems at peace on stage.

Dave Chappelle recently hosted Saturday Night Live, which garnered rave reviews. Since then there has been news of a Netflix special and a run of stand up comedy shows throughout the state of Texas.

Adam Sandler and His Funny Friends Hit the Road

December 2, 2016 by Nate

Adam Sandler Live

From the big screen to the big stage, Adam Sandler always brings the jokes. A comedy legend since the early 90s, Sandler has done it all. A producer, actor, comedian and even multi-platinum recording artist, are all careers that Sandler has excelled in.

However, he got his start in show business by performing stand-up comedy and skits on Saturday Night Live. Sandler’s stage presence is second to none and his ability to engage a crowd is what makes him so special.

Throughout his lengthy career, Sandler has befriended many other comedians that are just as talented and passionate as he is. The comedians joining Sandler on this holiday run include Tim Meadows, Rob Schneider, David Spade and Nick Swardson. This squad has worked together on a number of successful comedy films, and this tour should be no different.

The list of movies this hilarious cast has produced or acted in includes: The Benchwarmers, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, Grown Ups, Hotel Transylvania and Big Daddy just to name a few.

Each one of them is as hilarious as the next. Their similar styles and chemistry is what will make the show that much more enjoyable. Each of them are successful enough to headline their own comedy tour, but doing it together makes it that much more fun.

Here is a quick run down of each of these comedians credentials, and what they will bring to the show.

Tim Meadows

An old friend of Sandler’s from SNL, Meadows bring plenty of experience to the stage. Meadows got his start in 1991 and was one of the first comedians to ever work alongside Chris Farley.

His comedic skills became critically acclaimed due to the variety of characters he could pull off. Michael Jackson, O.J. Simpson and Tiger Woods are all impressions Meadows can bring to the stage at any time. Meadows also has original character from his time on SNL, “The Ladies Man,” Leon Phelps.

Meadows’ connection to Sandler comes through SNL, and the movies Coneheads and Grown Ups.

His variety of impressions and experience with humor in front of a live audience is what makes Meadows worth seeing. He continues to sharpen his skills to this day by frequently performing improvised comedy in Los Angeles.

David Spade

Another SNL alum, David Spade is one of the many comedians that doesn’t abide by the, “Act your age,” saying. His comedic style revolves around immaturity, sarcasm and self deprivation.

Spade has mastered this style and turned it in to one of the most successful careers for any stand-up comic. He started at SNL in the early 90s, and is still a big factor in comedy movies and TV sitcoms.

His style is embodied perfectly in his role in the movie, Joe Dirt. He has worked with Adam Sandler in popular movies such as The Benchwarmers and Grown Ups.

Spade has been a household name for years now, and with this cast of characters expect him to bring out his best on this tour.

Nick Swardson

Nick Swardson was the late addition to this comedic corps; however, put a mic in his hands and he fits right in. Bridging the gap between fans of SNL in the early 90s and teens and young adults of today, Swardson is a stand-up master.

He has become an understudy to these comedy geniuses, and is as close to the reincarnation of David Spade as you can get.

Work ethic and dedication to his craft is what earned him a spot on this tour. Known for his impressions, voice changing ability and affinity for playing some of the strangest characters that Sandler can create, Swardson has acted in many memorable roles over the years.

His ability to translate those skills to live stand-up comedy is what keeps fans coming back for more.

Rob Schneider

One of Sandler’s oldest friends, Schneider is one of the most naturally funny people on the planet. It is hard to find a movie of Sandler’s that Schneider is not in, which is surprising due to the fact he is usually cast to be the butt of everyone’s jokes.

Schneider met Sandler on SNL and they have been working together ever since. From Big Daddy all the way to Grown Ups, Schneider and Sandler are inseparable.

I’m sure Schneider has plenty of material prepared as he has recently made the news for his controversial pro-Trump stance.

Additionally, he is the only comic scheduled for every show of the tour this time around. He’ll be saving his best material for a tour with his old friend Adam Sandler.

With this line up of comics, if you need a laugh this is a show you can’t afford to miss.

Consequently, TicketNetwork has tickets for every show at a great price right here!

Come See Five Funny Acts at New York Comedy Festival

October 31, 2016 by Nate

New York Comedy Festival

The New York Comedy Festival seems to get bigger and funnier with each year. This year some of the biggest names in comedy are gracing various stages throughout the city.

Comedy clubs and theatres are opening their doors for this unique festival in New York City. The likes of Bill Maher, Tracy Morgan and Hannibal Buress will all perform stand-up this year. There is also plenty of up and coming talent that will be on display over the course of the week.

Another interesting aspect of NYCF is the fact that some comedians are taken out of their comfort zone. Returning to the stage can be a challenging task, but some famous comedians pull it off with ease. Here is a list of comedians and acts that are must-see next week at the New York Comedy Festival.

The Interrobang Presents: Comedy 101 – 11/1, 9:00 PM @ The Village Underground

Do you want to be in the NYCF?! You’ll get your chance on the very first night of the festival. This open mic style event aims to find the next big thing in comedy.

Five members of the crowd that think they have what it takes will be called to the stage to perform their original works. However, three harsh judges critique the routines with funny feedback that will have the crowd in tears by the finish. The entire event is also hosted by Ron and Gail Bennington from the SiriusXM’s Bennington Show.

Here is your opportunity to prove you have what it takes. Get your tickets now for your chance to take the stage at New York Comedy Festival.

The Real New York Tour with Tim Dillon – 11/3, 7:30 PM @ Caroline’s on Broadway

If you’re looking for a laugh and a tour, this is the show for you. Former New York City tour guide Tim Dillon has recruited some of his hilarious friends for his tour of “The Real New York.” Don’t worry, Dillon won’t hold back as he examines the side of New York the tours don’t want you to see. This ride is filled with non-stop laughter, and nothing is off limits.

Here is a complete rundown of the logistics the tour. Buses for the tour will leave and return to Central Park South and Columbus Circle. You must print your ticket by 7:15 PM and the bus will leave promptly at 7:30. The tour lasts an hour and a half, and this is a bus ride you’ll never forget.

Oh, Hello on Broadway – Numerous Performances @ Lyceum Theatre

Talk about out of their element. Nick Kroll and John Mulaney are used to their TV scripts and second takes, but will take their act to Broadway for NYCF. Gil Faizon (Kroll) and George St. Geegland (Mulaney) are made for these roles. Their characters are 70 year-old New Yorkers with a strange affinity for tuna. Their outrageous opinions and laughable lifestyle is what draws fans to this show.

Kroll and Mulaney are excellent as they completely immerse themselves in their roles. Their star power, coupled with the celebrity guest appearances has made this show popular enough to hit the Broadway stage. The script is hysterical but there is room for spontaneity, and these two have mastered their roles to the point where you can’t tell the difference. A must-see at Lyceum Theatre on Broadway, Oh, Hello will not disappoint during NYCF.

Liza Treyger and Friends – 11/2, 10:00 PM @ Union Hall

Liza Treyger is making her second appearance at NYCF and is back to prove why she belongs. She was part of the “Comics to Watch,” show back in 2012 and has been crushing it ever since. Treyger hails from Chicago and talks about how she misses the city, friendly bartenders and her parents. The original material is refreshing and her fans love every second of her routine.

She has made other notable appearances at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and Adam Devine’s House Party, a popular stand-up comedy show. Treyger has been making a name for herself over the past couple of years, see if she passes the test at NYCF this year.

Anthony Atamanuik – Trump Dump: The Last Rally – 11/3, 7:30 PM @ NYU Skirball Center

If you are fan of Trump impressions then this is a show you need to go see. Anthony Atamanuik is an up and coming comedian that has been crushing this routine for about a year now. His spot on impression and off the cuff remarks gives the performance an authentic feel.

The performance has gotten rave reviews from fans and experts alike. If you need a dash of politics while attending the NYCF then this is the performance for you. Atamanuik is no stranger to the stage or the big screen as he has made appearances on shows such as Broad City and @midnight, two Comedy Central originals.

As you can see the line up for New York Comedy Festival is incredibly deep and quite funny. There is also a wide array of comedians with various different acts to keep things fresh during the week long festival.

Treat Yo Self: Events to Fit Your Tax Return

April 14, 2016 by Taylor

Treat Yo Self-It’s the most horrible time of the year! TAX TIME. Even if you don’t owe anything to Uncle Sam or your state, you still have had to slog through the time-sucking and brain-frying experience of doing your taxes. And I don’t care if you used software, hired a tax prep specialist, or managed to do it yourself the old fashioned way: taxes suck. You survived (or are surviving, taxes are due Monday!), and you deserve to treat yourself to something SPECTACULAR. Here’s a list of events to suit your tax return that will help you have a fabulous “me day.”

$0-$99

TNcom_MLB_Social_300x300Have you checked out your local baseball franchise lately? Not only is it early enough in the season that the games are still offering insights into the games to come, but unless your local team is one of the “BIG ONES” playing another “BIG ONE” you can nab tickets for cheap. So cheap, in fact, that you could probably treat the whole family to the greatest of American pastimes: a day at the ballpark. Hell, you can even catch the pinstripers in some match ups for as little as $14* a pop! Find tickets to see your hometown heroes here.

disney-on-ice-frozen-300x300Speaking of family-friendly activities, you can catch Disney On Ice when your favorite cast members skate into an area near you for well under $100 a pop. Most tickets on the TicketNetwork.com exchange sit between $20 and $40 apiece*, even for the in-demand Disney On Ice: Frozen series.

Take your tax return and turn it into laughs! Many comedians currently touring the U.S. have seats available for under $100 each, including stars like Kathy Griffin, Jim Gaffigan, Lisa Lampanelli, Lewis Black, and more! Check ’em out and get the last laugh on the government.

$100-$500

ColdplayVirtually any musician or band that you want to see this summer – festivals notwithstanding – is within your reach on the TicketNetwork.com exchange. From Coldplay to Guns N’ Roses, Justin Bieber to Beyonce, The Boss, and even the golden-voiced Goddess herself, Adele, have tickets you can nab for under $500. Take that tax return and turn it into a memorable night seeing your favorite star live!

You can also nail multi-day passes to in-demand festivals like Bonnaroo, Sasquatch!, Electric Daisy Carnival (in either Las Vegas or New York), and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

$500-$1000

hamilton-300x300With this much tax return moolah burning a hole in your pocket, you can nail down a ticket to the hottest show on Broadway, Hamilton. While the show will be hitting the road and branching out to L.A. soon, you know you want to see writer-director-star Lin Manuel Miranda doing what he does best in person on Broadway.

You can also nab venue passes to Copa America, floor seats for Adele, or tickets to the Stanley Cup Finals. Whoever you HAVE to see once in this lifetime is within your grasp with a tax return so sweet as that.

Beyond…

If you’ve managed to wrangle a return to be reckoned with, live the “bigger is better” life, and want to make your year memorable, you can snag tickets to Super Bowl 51 in Houston, Texas on February 5, 2017.
